Housing Cost Of Solar Rate In Austin

The residential customers who are associated with
the residential account are interconnected to the solar energy company who
maintains electric distribution system. The distribution system is billed under
Residential Value of Solar Rate. The customer gets ‘Value of Solar’ credit each
month on their bill for every kilowatt per hour. The housing cost of the solar rate in Austin is less than the electricity bill.
The customers using solar energy is billed for
the energy they use in their home which falls under residential tiered rate
structure. The bills get reduced by the Value of Solar Credit. In case if the
solar rate increase than the energy bill, it is assured to the consumers that
remaining credit may roll over to the next month. Their cost of the solar rate in Austin
cannot be used as offset bills in another place.
The ‘Value of Solar’ rate is designed to recover
the fixed cost of the solar companies. They replicate the value of local solar
generation. The solar energy companies create equity between low and high
consuming solar consumers.
On October 2016 the residential ‘Value of Solar’
rate was affected because the residential bills in each residence increased.
Austin City Council annually incorporated the tariff on domestic electricity
charges. The current value of solar rate is 10.6 cent per kilowatt.
There is a value added calculation which includes
line loss saving by avoiding new generation capacity, fuel cost, and
environmental benefits. The interconnection guidelines of the solar company are
always given with tariff calculation of 30-degree tilts.
The value of solar components is described below
to state the rate:
- The cost of fuel is avoided to meet the electric loads with transmission based on solar production profile.
- The natural gas plant operation and management cost are avoided to load resources.
- The capital cost of renewable sources is prevented.
- Following the policy objectives and environmental regulations, environmental compliance value is added to the bill of the consumers.
All the above things which are avoided are
because of saving the cost and reducing the value than electric energy.
Residential consumers are installed with PV system. The credit is assigned for
each kilowatt of solar power by doing the web-based calculation.
